Baby, It's Cold Outside

We grabbed our three girls (yes, I'm including "J" as one of the girls) and headed for the hills for the long weekend. It couldn't have been more beautiful - and when we arrived there was almost nobody there! Mark and the girls headed for the lake and I took "J" and headed for the hills - there are so many amazing places to hike. When we came back to check on the fishermen, "P" ended up coming with us and we walked around the entire lake; we found a very cool bear that was carved out of an old tree and a lot of amazing scenery. As soon as the sun went down, we headed back to the trailer for all the hot chocolate we could drink, plenty of hot food and of course - the traditional baking of the "big cookie". It was COLD at night but beautiful during the day!! Our evenings involved playing games, watching old movies and going to bed earlier than any of us had since we were 5. By the time the weekend rolled around, it was obvious that we were not the only one with the "camping" idea. One of the things that I like the most about the lake is that it's very family-friendly and people you've never seen before act like old friends. "B" was hoping that we'd rent a boat and take "J" out onto the lake - that will be something fun to do next time. As much hiking as "P" and I did, we didn't see anybody reeling in a lot of fish - and our fishermen were bitterly disappointed to have come home empty-handed. As the long weekend came to a close, we all found ourselves saying, "can you believe we've been here for 4 days?" That's the mark of a good time; we had a blast and can hardly wait for next time!
